30th Aug - Sorrento, Amalfi Costal Drive
When we drove the Amalfi coast the first time we didn't finish it all. Also Ado's bike was having the chain repaired and had been a passenger on the back of mine so we had planned to go back to drive this amazing coast road during one of the days after the wedding.
Myself and Ado heading off and drove towards Pompeii looking for the famous ruins. Unable to find the ruins due to awful Italian sign posting we gave up. I was told the ruins are undergoing major restoration at the time and most of the interesting parts were closed off anyway, so no major loss. Modern Pompeii was quite a dirty and ugly town which wasn't very appealing at all so myself and Ado agreed we'd head to Sorrento. Sorrento was lovely, the drive from Sorrento to Salerno via the Amalfi coast is utterly stunning. It is biker heaven. I stopped once or twice to take some photo's but we had to get back to the wedding party for the beach BBQ. It was strange how little safety gear any of the local Italians moped drivers wear on this road.
The beach BBQ was great. It ended being a late night. The guitar also made an appearance again tonight.
The following morning everyone from the wedding party just dossed about the swimming pool. Some of the lads had crazy ring diving competitons where the goal was to dive through an ever increasingly difficult ring position. The newly married Derek was pretty good at this and kept everyone entertained. Amazingly, and to everyone's surprise, nobody even got hurt!
