Week 2
The following people stayed for the second week. Myself, Joe Power, John Mac, Alan Small, Graham, Ben, Robert, Mikey and Dan.
There was much more snow this week. The first day the new guys were out it snowed heavily and visibility was truly awful. A lot of the ski lifts had closed and we had to spend most of our first day on the button lifts. As terrible as that seemed to us; some Italian Climbers were killed that day when they were literally blown off the top of Mt Blanc, the mountain we spent much of our time on/near. That put the chills up us.
Visibility got better as the week went on and powder was everywhere. After a really heavy snow dump one night we went snowboarding with our Chef/host Kurt. Kurt is the best/craziest snowboarder I've ever had the pleasure to be in the company of. Trying to keep up with him, a born surfer, in deep power and awful visibility while nursing a hangover was just awsome (but painful).
Everyone staying this week were well practiced Skiers/Snowboarders and we were all on a similar level, except with perhaps only Mikey holding us back a little at times :) Skier-for-the-first-week, Alan, ditched his skis for the second week and strapped into his snowboard in anger. He looked a lot less gay hooked up to a board then silly looking skis.
This week I discovered Jenga. Playing drinking Jenga with a bunch of builders is not the best idea I ever had. The guitar came out late one night after an extreme Jenga session, with Shauna, Robert and Mikey all putting in their bit. That was a good night. But an official warning goes out to Joe and Kurt who spiked my drink that night.. There will be payback when you least expect it.
I'm looking forward to meeting up with the rest of the lads for a night out in Dublin soon. Also the honeymooning Aussies, Kurt and Shauna have now confirmed they will be coming to Dublin soon to soak up some more of the Irish culture. A perfect time to plan my payback.. watch this space!
